  • represented a Greek ship owner in opposing the application of the Fair Opportunity Doctrine (FOD) to COGSA package limitation; the Third Circuit decided in favor of the ship owner – a ruling that ran contrary to that of every other court of appeals
  • represented a local terminal operator in an environmental discrimination case alleging damages in the millions of dollars; resulted in a settlement of $15,000
  • represented a Canadian ship owner in a case involving a longshoreman alleging a severe injury from fall from cargo and seeking $750,000 in damages; resulted in a summary judgment in favor of our client, and the case was not appealed
  • represented a ship owner in connection with a matter involving 24 Nigerian stowaways; avoided penalties and forfeitures, and arranged for repatriation without expense to the ship owner
  • represented a cruise ship line in passenger claims, getting cases dismissed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania based on the contractual forum selection clause
  • have served as principal labor counsel to the largest stevedore and terminal operator in the Port of Philadelphia for more than three decades
  • serve as labor counsel to trucking, warehousing, and intermodal services in the Ports of Jacksonville, FL and San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • represent a major container carrier in concluding new collective bargaining agreements with shipboard and shoreside personnel, involving deck and engineering officers, unlicensed personnel, shore-based engineering and maintenance personnel, stevedoring employees, and clerical staff
