Scott focuses his practice in commercial and administrative litigation. He has significant trial and appellate experience representing clients in state and federal court, and extensive representations in arbitrations, mediations, and agency proceedings. Scott has experience handling a variety of tort and contract matters for public companies and private institutions in areas such as:
- real estate
- retail
- chemical manufacturing
- insurance
- universities
Scott also has substantial experience defending clients in regulatory compliance matters, including cases before the Department of Justice, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Defense, the Federal Election Commission, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Federal Trade Commission. He counsels clients regarding various federal and state laws, including compliance with:
- the Fair Housing Act
- the Americans with Disabilities Act
- federal election and campaign finance laws
- the Freedom of Information Act
- Drug Enforcement Administration manufacturing and import registration proceedings
- Department of Defense security clearance proceedings
Prior to joining the firm, Scott was with Bryan Cave LLP in Washington, D.C. He also served as a legislative director and press secretary for U.S. Representative Ike Skelton.
