As a patent agent, Donald routinely provides research and technical assistance in patent counseling matters and in patent litigations. He regularly prosecutes and drafts patent applications pertaining to solid state technologies and systems related to the use of solid state technology. He has handled patent applications involving LEDs, LCDs, flat panel displays, lasers, memory devices, sensors, high frequency communication systems, imaging systems and electromagnetic detection systems. Donald has also prosecuted patents in an array of mechanical technologies, including firearms, medical devices, test equipment and automotive parts.
Donald has extensive experience interviewing U.S. patent examiners, and he has made multiple appearances before the United States Patent & Trademark Office Board of Appeals and Patent Interferences.
Before Fox Rothschild
Donald worked for the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office for more than a decade, and was primary patent examiner for more than five years. In that position, he handled patent examination of diodes, transistors, thyristors, sensors, antennas, computer architecture, hetero-junction devices and semiconductor manufacturing processes. He was awarded full signatory authority at the USPTO from 1995 to 2000, and he was rated “outstanding” by the USPTO for a decade.
