Haverford Facing a Sticky Situation Over Gum FactoryMarch 16, 2011 – In The News
The Delaware County Board of View has awarded $6 million to the Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corp., founded by Edward P. Fenimore, as damages resulting from the township’s condemnation of the bubble gum factory site. Representing the Fenimores, David B. Snyder said, “The Board of View was very diligent in the way they handled the proceeding. They carefully considered all the evidence and facts. Both sides presented a number of [professional] witnesses… The board concluded the Fenimore family was right in the number they were asking. It’s pretty unusual to give us 100 percent of what we asked for.”
Snyder said his clients feel vindicated. “All the Fenimores ever wanted was to be treated fairly… We’re certainly thankful the Board of View has treated them fairly in awarding them the amount it’s worth. It’s unfortunate they were forced to litigate this.”
