Ethical Consideration in Family Law
Julia Swain, an attorney with Fox Rothschild LLP, recently presented a seminar on "Ethical Consideration in Family Law," sponsored by the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association on November 3, 2008.
Swain served as course planner for the program, which featured Barbara S. Rosenberg, Esquire of Norristown and Elaine Smith, Esquire of Smith & Horwitz in Philadelphia as speakers. The program discussed ethical issues specific to family lawyers and highlighted some of the common complaints received from clients by the Disciplinary Board.
Swain concentrates her practice in the area of family law, including divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution, and abuse. Resident in the firm’s Philadelphia office, she negotiates settlements and prenuptial agreements and litigates family law cases in the five-county Philadelphia area, including the appellate courts.
An active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Family Law Section, Swain serves as the Section’s secretary and is a member of the Executive Committee. She will ultimately become Section chair in 2011. Swain is a frequent writer and speaker on family law issues. Her articles have been published in The Legal Intelligencer, The Pennsylvania Family Lawyer and the Philadelphia Bar Reporter. She has served as an instructor of Family Law for PBI, “The People’s Law School,” Half Moon Productions, and was a speaker at the Federal Court Immigration Ceremony.
