New CMS Policy on Preventable Injuries
William H. Maruca, a partner with Fox Rothschild, will speak as part of a teleconference entitled, “New CMS Policy on Preventable Injuries.” The 90-minute teleconference will be held on January 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. eastern time.
The teleconference will cover the recent Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announcement that beginning in October 2008, Medicare will no loner pay for preventable hospital injuries and that hospitals may no bill patients for those costs. The teleconference will examine the likely impact of the new policy on hospitals and best practices to limit liability.
Maruca has extensive experience in health care law, particularly in Medicare and Medicaid compliance, the Stark physician self-referral law, the Medicare Anti-Kickback law, the False Claims Act, and CLIA, HIPAA, EMTALA, and other federal and state regulatory requirements.
