Public Forum: Challenges to the Pharmaceutical Industry – Drug Shortages
New York, NY 10007
In 2010, there were 178 drug shortages. These shortages included cancer drugs, prescription drugs, drugs needed for emergency medicine, anesthetics and electrolytes for patients on IV feeding, to name a few. The situation is so serious, that President Obama issued an Executive Order in October 2011 on "Reducing Prescription Drug Shortages".
In this program, distinguished panelists including an attorney, pharmacist and representative from the federal government, will discuss the causes of the shortages, its impact on public health and possible solutions.
