On July 14, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) officially published in the Federal Register the proposed modifications to the HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Enforcement Rules under the HITECH Act. OCR is accepting comments on the Proposed Rule through September 13, 2010, and the proposed modifications are expected to be effective shortly thereafter. With both the security and privacy rules being expanded as well as the enforcement provisions being strengthened, it is important to understand what it means for your existing compliance program.

Join us for an informative webcast in which HIPAA/HITECH professionals provide insight into how these modifications will impact your organization. Topics to be discussed include:

  • How will the new regulations impact the relationship between a business associate and covered entities and/or subcontractors
  • Privacy Rule's impact on marketing, sale of PHI, research, fundraising, health plan disclosure restrictions and more
  • Expansion of individual rights to access information & how to keep this secure
  • Enforcement provisions of willful neglect, culpability tiers and other details
