Scott Vernick served on a panel titled “Building Blocks of a Strong Social Media Policy” covering the topic of “Social Media and BYOD: Increasing Profitability Without Increasing Liability” at the 2014 Business Insurance Risk Management Summit.

A company’s social media policy and insurance protection should be strong enough to withstand an attack from an angry former employee, inappropriate and damaging posts from customers or current employees or other challenges to its reputation or corporate liability.

In this session, Scott examined the building blocks of a strong social media policy, including the tools, techniques and coverage necessary to successfully manage the risks, now and in the future. This session also helped to identify other key stakeholders regarding social media and reputational risk – with thoughts on how to craft a cross-company plan to avoid such risks.
