Social Networking Sites and Your Staff — How the Internet Can Become a PR Bonus or a Nightmare for Your Nonprofit

October 19, 2011
Pennsylvania Bar Institute's KnowHow Nonprofit
PBI Professional Development Conference Center

Heinz 57 Center
339 Sixth Avenue, 7th Floor
Pittsburgh, PA

9:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

A spin-off of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's Nonprofit Institute, this new program will offer valuable information through a day long series of workshops designed to help you succeed in the nonprofit world. The program will offer two separate tracks – a “basic” track for those new to the nonprofit world and a “sophisticated” track for those who are more experienced in nonprofit issues.

As part of the KnowHow Nonprofit sophisticated track, Steven K. Ludwig will discuss how social networking can help or hurt your nonprofit. Nonprofits, especially charities, have gotten into social media in a big way, especially for fundraising. This panel will review the successful use of social media (how to do it right) and the pitfalls (what not to do), discussing “best practices” in terms of policies for staff and also for users of social media sites.
