What Every Lawyer Should Know About Franchise Law
Elizabeth D. Sigety, a partner with Fox Rothschild LLP and co-chair of the firm’s Franchising, Licensing & Distribution Practice, will speak at the Bucks County Bar Association’s Annual Bench Bar Conference. The Conference will be held at the Seaview Resort & Spa in Galloway, New Jersey, September 18-20, 2008.
Sigety will present “What Every Lawyer Should Know About Franchise Law” at a breakout session on September 19. The discussion will cover the history of franchising regulation, state and federal laws governing franchising, the franchise disclosure document, representing the franchisee and more.
Sigety, who works in Fox Rothschild’s Bucks County office, focuses her practice on a wide variety of corporate work, with an emphasis on franchising and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, securities and private placements. She also acts as a general counsel for numerous clients, including franchise, start-up and mid-cap businesses. Sigety is a frequent speaker and writer, especially in the franchise and venture capital arena.
Active within the Bucks County community, Sigety serves as a Board Member of Doylestown Hospital Foundation, Doylestown, PA; Board Member of The Village Improvement Association of Doylestown, PA; and has served as the Chair of the Annual Fund of the Buckingham Friends School, Lahaska, PA. She also serves as a Board Member of the East Side House Settlement, Bronx, New York.
The Conference provides seven hours of CLE credits offered in substantive and ethical areas of law. Additional topics will include technology and the practice of law, ethics, and avoiding legal malpractice.
