Gaming equipment manufacturers are increasingly becoming assemblers of a variety of components developed and manufactured by other companies. Casino operators are increasingly relying on backroom software packages that collect and collate customer data from a variety of data bases and are serviced onsite and by offsite help desks operated by the software manufacturers. Is this gaming equipment? What are the regulatory ramifications of classifying such a manufacturer as a gaming equipment supplier? Is a regulatory reality juggernaut about to paralyze development of the gaming industry? These and other practical issues raised by these fundamental industry developments will be discussed by the panelists.
