2017 Update: Accommodating Employees With Disabilities
The burdens on employers to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act and similar state laws continue to evolve. Apart from the requirement to accommodate disabled workers, courts and agencies are scrutinizing the process that employers go through to determine if accommodations are available.
Jeffrey Polsky will review what constitutes a disability, the extent of an employer’s duty (particularly in California) to engage employees in the interactive process and steps companies can take to reduce their potential liability. He offers the perspective of someone who has guided employers through this process for more than 25 years and has defended dozens of lawsuits alleging disability discrimination.
This one-hour program will include a 15-minute question and answer session at the close of the presentation.
