Beth L. Weisser was featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer article “Kane's Top Aides to Testify Before Senate Panel.” Full text can be found in the November 17, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is below.
Officials announced that four of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane’s top deputies are set to testify before a Senate committee on whether the loss of her license is grounds for removal.
A committee who specialize in legal ethics gave recommendations to the Senate on whether or not Kane is required to step away from office due to the suspension of her law license.
Among them was Fox Rothschild’s Beth L. Weisser, who said an argument could be made that Kane may have a suspended license but she remains a member of the bar. But, she said, Kane's suspension may prevent her from carrying out much of her work.
Weisser said suspended lawyers are required to take specific steps to remove themselves from practicing law which includes suspending the use of anything that could imply they are active lawyers.
