8 to 10 a.m.

This program will address when preliminary and postliminary functions (i.e., activities undertaken before or after work) can be converted into compensable working time.

Mark Tabakman, who concentrates in all aspects of wage-hour law, will provide an overview of the legal issues applicable to such matters to ensure that you will be able to spot flashpoint issues and understand how to address and resolve them through proactive strategizing.

This session will examine the following areas in determining if time has risen to the level of “compensable”: travel time, training time, on-call time and, most particularly, PDA/email off-duty usage cases.
