Alicia Luke Shares Best Legal Practices for Volunteer Organizations

Alicia S. Luke, attorney with Fox Rothschild LLP, presented “Volunteer Organizations and the Law: Best Practices To Avoid Sticky Situations” to the Delaware Valley Association of Volunteer Administrators (DVAVA) on January 18.

Luke highlighted a big-picture-view of some of the major legal issues facing volunteer organizations, such as clearances required when working around children, how to mitigate tort liability exposure to volunteers as well as for the actions of volunteers and general tips regarding contracting.

Members of DVAVA, a professional organization for individuals who lead volunteer programs, as well as staff from nonprofits located throughout the Delaware Valley attended the program.

Luke, an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department, has vast experience representing clients in state and federal court in a variety of matters, including premises liability, breach of warranty, construction and automobile liability and complex product liability cases.
