Teachers at Saucon Valley School District have been working under an expired contract since July 2012. In order to come up with a new, compromised contact, an arbitrator gave a 15 page recommendation.
This report came out Wednesday night and stated teacher salaries would be frozen for one year, the district has to agree to a small health care increase and only teachers that were on the previous 2008-2012 contract would receive retirement incentives.
Jeffrey Sultanik has said that “The district and union last participated in non-binding arbitration in 2008, and while it did not immediately lead to an agreement in that case, it did provide the framework for an eventual settlement,” which may help each side during their 10 days to accept or reject the report.
