The Saucon Valley School Board says that a neutral arbitrator’s contact recommendations would cost the district at least $4.3 million more than the last contract.
On Wednesday, labor attorney Timothy Brown issued recommendations to settle the contract dispute, which both sides must now agree on within 10 days.
According to Jeffrey Sultanik, the board labor attorney,Brown’s salary projections, not taking into account raises for teacher graduate work, costs $4.3 million more than the board's final offer submitted to nonbinding arbitration.
The teachers have freedom to strike after each side votes on Thursday, so the scheduled August 31 school day might end up being delayed.
