June 29, 2015 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Barry S. Schaevitz, an experienced attorney and former NY Assistant Attorney General, has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the Litigation and Corporate Departments. He will continue his corporate litigation, regulatory and government relations practice.

“We are thrilled to welcome Barry to the firm,” said Fox’s New York Office Managing Partner Michael I. Slapo. “His litigation background and experience bring a distinct and beneficial perspective that will be an asset to our clients. Likewise, his federal and state regulatory and government relations experience adds a new dimension to the scope of services we offer from our New York office.”

Schaevitz represents product manufacturers and industry trade associations in litigation, regulatory and legislative matters. He has defended clients in complex product liability matters involving medical, scientific, and other technical issues in various courts throughout the country. His experience includes representing clients in cases involving questions of disease causation and addiction.

Schaevitz also represents clients in matters involving federal regulation and federal agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission. He similarly works with clients on a wide variety of regulatory matters before state agencies and departments.

In addition to working with clients to avoid or resolve litigation or regulatory issues, Schaevitz also engages on federal and state legislative matters. In doing so, he meets with legislators and staff, and other public officials on matters of concern to clients.

He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1988 and his B.A. from American University in 1982.

Schaevitz was previously a partner at Jacob, Medinger & Finnegan, LLP, after working in the NY Attorney General’s office and as a staff member on Capitol Hill.
