‘Blind Side’ Victory to Help Sports Movies

Sandra Bullock's big Oscar win for her role in " The Blind Side" is a huge boost for the sports industry, as it paves the way for an increase in production of sports movies and projects. Although sports films are popular in our culture, getting the projects "green-lit" at a faster pace is the problem, as they are difficult to market. However "The Blind Side" marketing model was unique in that it was heavily promoted stateside, but all promotion was stripped away for the international market, a market which is often not conducive to sports films.

"There, it's being marketed as a human interest film, focusing on the Sandy Bullock human interest-against-all-odds relationship with the kid and overcoming the obstacles they faced as an odd couple," says Darrell Miller.
