Charles De Monaco to Chair Fox Rothschild’s White Collar Compliance & Defense Practice Group

May 26, 2015 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild announces the appointment of Partner Charles De Monaco, resident in the firm’s Pittsburgh office, as the chair of Fox’s White Collar Compliance & Defense Practice Group, which comprises nearly 25 attorneys nationwide. As DeMonaco takes on his new leadership roles, Partners Patrick Egan and Ernest Badway step down after nine years and seven years, respectively, at the helm of the white collar team.

“We are deeply grateful for the dedicated service Patrick and Ernie have provided to our white collar group, which enjoyed steady growth under their long watch,” noted Firmwide Managing Partner Mark Silow. “Fox anticipates a continued expansion trajectory in this high-need legal area, and is certain that Bob and Chuck will provide well-informed and strategic guidance to the group.”

De Monaco is a courtroom veteran with an impressive track record of leading complex, high-profile cases.

De Monaco focuses on complex white collar criminal defense as well as securities litigation, including matters involving allegations of fraud; corporate disputes involving director and officer liability, corporate compliance, governance, corporate waste and breaches of fiduciary duty; environmental law; health care law; Qui Tam litigation; and commercial litigation. In addition to his new position, De Monaco co-chairs the firm’s Marcellus Shale practice. Prior to joining Fox, De Monaco served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania and, in this role, was lead counsel on the high-profile 1988 Ashland Oil spill case, and, as Assistant Chief of the Environmental Crimes Section of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, DC, was lead counsel for the United States in the criminal prosecution of U.S. v. Exxon and Exxon Shipping Co. for the massive 1989 Exxon Valdez Alaska oil spill.
