Council, Residents Agree Sellersville Sale Should Be To Public Water Co.

As Sellersville Borough struggles to maintain and operate its water system, residents and borough council members must choose one of two publicly operated municipal systems – North Penn Water Authority and Perkasie Borough Authority – that have made offers to buy the system. According to Randal White, Sellersville solicitor, the borough’s system has not worked as well as expected due to age, and it fails to meet some of the new, more stringent regulations. He said the system continues to lose money each year.

A study done by the governor’s office reported that Pennsylvania water and sewer companies will need more than $113 billion of maintenance work during the next 20 years. Regional systems are being promoted as a way to meet the needs that smaller companies have difficulty meeting, he said.
