Scott L. Vernick was quoted in the Government Technology article, “Cybersecurity: A Millisecond Defense.” Full text can be found in the November 12, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is below.

In October, the U.S. Senate approved a new cybersecurity bill, but the bill appears to fall short of true protection and focuses more on the sharing of information to assist in detection and recovery of cyberattacks rather than a solution that would stop the attack.

In a recent Business Insurance article, Scott L. Vernick, a noted privacy attorney, said the legislation is a good first step, but “we shouldn’t get carried away” about what it can and cannot accomplish given that cyber attackers “are changing what they're doing in milliseconds.”
