Accomplished environmental law attorney David Restaino, a partner in the Princeton office of Fox Rothschild LLP, has been elevated from vice chair to chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s (NJSBA) Environmental Law Section.
Restaino assumed his chairmanship on May 20 during the NJSBA’s Environmental Law Section official meeting. The Environmental Law Section is dedicated to promoting improvement and professionalism in the practice of environmental law, and works to maintain the flow of communication with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.
Restaino focuses his legal practice in environmental matters, including development, permitting, compliance, recycling and reporting, as well as real estate matters. He provides dynamic litigation, transaction, regulatory and strategic counsel for complex commercial matters in state and federal jurisdictions, and has also litigated a variety of insurance contribution and subrogation cases.
A former Deputy Attorney General with the State of New Jersey, Restaino enforced environmental laws in both trial and appellate forums on behalf of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and negotiated environmental permits, among other responsibilities. He also formerly served on the NJ Supreme Court's District XIII Ethics Committee.
Restaino is an active member in the Air and Waste Management Association, Somerset County Bar Association and the Water Environment Federation. He is an accomplished speaker presenting for the Air and Waste Management Association and the Atlantic Builders Convention, and has been quoted in the New Jersey Law Journal.
Restaino earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1990 and his B.S. from Ithaca College in 1987.
