Judge Steven Rhodes ruled Detroit eligible for bankruptcy protection Tuesday and said the city can cut pensions as it reorganizes its finances, noting that “the city needs help.”
The ruling capped a weeks-long hearing in which stakeholders and even the governor testified.
“What we’ve seen in this court is the judge was very careful to make sure that everyone had their say,” said Michael Sweet.
