Recognizing years of dedication to the health law industry, Fox Rothschild partner in the Princeton office, Elizabeth Litten, has been honored with the President’s Award from the New Jersey Chapter of Health Care Financial Management Association (HFMA). Litten received her award during the Annual National Institute in Atlantic City on Oct. 20-23.
Established in 1989, the New Jersey Chapter President’s Award recognizes a chapter member who exhibits outstanding achievement and provides exceptional work for the chapter. President of the HFMA of New Jersey for the chapter year 2009-2010, Brian Sherin selected Litten to receive the award for her many years of hard work and dedication to the chapter. Litten served on the board of directors for the chapter and currently serves as editor of the Garden State FOCUS, its bimonthly publication circulated to more than 1,200 hospital and health care industry executives and professionals throughout New Jersey. She also serves as co-chair of the chapter’s Communications Committee that oversees the publication and its web site, and which in 2010 received the Yerger Award from the national chapter recognizing the committee’s outstanding performance in the communications sector.
Litten has established herself as a pillar in the HFMA earning The Frederick T. Muncie Gold Award for her continued work with the chapter, and in the past year co-authored the chapter’s comments to CMS on the proposed meaningful use regulations that affect incentive payments for use of electronic health information systems.

Litten focuses her practice on New Jersey regulatory issues with a concentration in health law, corporate and government relations. Litten has been a health law attorney for nearly 20 years and a registered New Jersey lobbyist for 20 years, working closely with the executive and legislative branches in developing health care policy. She has broad experience with representing New Jersey hospitals, physicians, ambulatory care facilities and other New Jersey-licensed providers on a wide spectrum of managed care, certificate of need, licensing, reimbursement and compliance issues; counseling clients on federal health care issues; working with regulators and legislators to address clients’ concerns; and drafting and advocating health care regulations and legislation that have become law.
Litten is a prominent author and speaker on topics including charitable care matters, health care reform, HIPAA/HITECH and more. She contributes to the HIPAA, HITECH, & HIT blog that provides cutting-edge information regarding the handling and sharing of health care information.
Litten is on the executive committee of the Association of Corporate Wellness and serves as a trustee and board member of the Evergreens Continuing Care Retirement Community. She earned her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law – Camden in 1990 and her B.A. from Vassar College in 1987.
