Four Fox Partners Nominated for 2015 Women Making a Difference Award by LA Business Journal

Fox Rothschild is pleased to announce that Yesenia Gallegos, Mette Kurth, Nancy Yaffe and Emily Yukich, all partners in the firm’s Los Angeles office, were selected by the Los Angeles Business Journal as 2015 Women Making a Difference Award Nominees. Gallegos, Kurth, Yaffe and Yukich were among a select group of 203 women honored at the Los Angeles Women Making a Difference Symposium and Awards event held on May 4.

All were chosen for their outstanding accomplishments as women in business in the LA County region and for their leadership and dedication towards making a positive impact on the business world and their communities. Emily, Yesenia and Nancy were selected as part of the Corporate Citizenship category, and Nancy was a finalist. Mette was nominated and selected as a finalist for Volunteer of the Year.

Gallegos focuses her practice in labor and employment. She is a leader in the community and served as the Hispanic National Bar Association’s (HNBA) Regional President for Southern California from 2013-2014 and as the national chair of HNBA’s Women’s Leadership Conference. She currently serves as the co-chair of Fox Rothschild’s Diversity Committee. Known for her professional excellence, integrity, leadership and commitment to the legal and Latino/a community, Gallegos is seen as a mentor to other female attorneys throughout the firm.

An experienced financial restructuring and bankruptcy attorney, Kurth also actively volunteers with a number of organizations. She assisted the Jubilee Campaign in raising funds for the Nigerian schoolgirls who escaped their Boko Haram kidnappers in seeking refuge in the U.S. She was a member of the resource board of Sojourn Shelter, which provides battered women and children a safe space to regroup, rebuild and re-establish their lives. Kurth and her family have also been recognized by the City of Los Angeles as the North Hollywood YMCA's "Family of the Year" for their assistance to the financially troubled North Hollywood facility and their successful efforts to prevent the closure of the highly respected YMCA preschool.

Yaffe focuses her practice on labor and employment law counseling and litigation with an emphasis on problem prevention. She is also a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles and the Step Up Women’s Network, and serves as co-chair of Fox’s Women’s Initiative. A dynamic and entertaining speaker who enjoys conducting management and employee training, Yaffe frequently presents on HR and employment law issues to various HR organizations including the Los Angeles Hotels Human Resources Association (LAHHRA)

Yukich counsels small to mid-sized businesses in the consumer products, clean tech, solar power, manufacturing and professional services industries on a variety of complex transactional matters. She also serves as the founder and co-chair of Women in LAVA (Los Angeles Venture Association), a strategic interest group focused on the specific needs of women entrepreneurs who are seeking seed or venture financing.
