Fox’s Jennifer Benda Serving as Volunteer Coordinator for “Adopt-A-Base” ProgramJuly 29, 2015 – Press Releases
Jennifer E. Benda, partner with Fox Rothschild LLP, is working as the Colorado volunteer coordinator for the “Adopt-A-Base” tax program.
The program is a collaboration between the IRS’ Stakeholder Partnerships, Education and Communication (SPEC), the Section of Taxation of the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Armed Forces Tax Council (military installations). Volunteers train military personnel on substantive tax issues so that they can become tax return preparers through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), which provides armed forces members and their families with access to free tax preparation services addressing their unique military tax issues.
Benda has been involved with the program for two years. In 2014-2015, volunteer instructors nationwide provided training to 32 military installations in 23 locations.
“I come from a military family, so being able to give back and help active members and their families is important to me,” she noted. “Adopt-A-Base has been gaining positive traction over the past few years and is continuing to expand to cover more military installations across the country. I am thrilled to be part of such a rewarding program that benefits so many families,” she added.
A former Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Benda is an experienced tax attorney who handles tax controversy and income tax planning and compliance matters. She serves as a steadfast advocate for clients, developing relationships with IRS personnel and IRS Appeals and state departments of revenue, and leverages these relationships to successfully resolve her clients’ tax matters.
