Fox Rothschild LLP Partner M. Joel Bolstein has been appointed to serve as Interim Chair of The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC), which develops state policy and regulations and adjudicates claims alleging discrimination in housing, employment and educational opportunities.

Bolstein was originally appointed to the PHRC by Governor Tom Ridge in 1999 and was subsequently reappointed twice by Governor Ed Rendell. Current Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf recently nominated Bolstein to serve an additional five-year term.

“I am greatly honored that Governor Wolf has placed his confidence in me to serve as interim PHRC Chairman,” said Bolstein. “As someone who has served three prior terms as a Commissioner, I understand how important the PHRC’s work is to people living, working and going to school in Pennsylvania. I look forward to working with my fellow Commissioners, the Executive Director and professional staff in continuing the exemplary work of the Commission.”

Named as one of the leading environmental attorneys in Pennsylvania by Chambers USA, Bolstein focuses his practice on brownfields redevelopment, the environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, regulatory compliance counseling and environmental litigation.

Bolstein earned his J.D. and B.A. from George Washington University.
