April 10, 2008

Fox Rothschild LLP has grown its Exempt Organizations Practice, adding four new tax-exempt organization clients in the past several weeks. Three of the new organizations are associated with minor league sports teams.

“We’re pleased that organizations such as Baseballtown Charities, IronPigs Charities and the HERSHEY BEARS Foundation have chosen to engage Fox Rothschild as their legal partner,” said Richard S. Caputo, a partner in Fox’s Exempt Organizations practice who will serve as the primary contact for the organizations. “These organizations do an amazing amount of work for the people they support, and we’re glad to be a part of that.”

Baseballtown Charities is the charitable arm of the Reading Phillies baseball club, IronPigs Charities is the charitable arm of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs baseball club and the HERSHEY BEARS Foundation is the charitable arm of the HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club. In addition to being engaged by the aforementioned charities, Fox Rothschild was recently engaged to represent the HERSHEY Entertainment and Resorts Employee Support Fund. These four new tax-exempt clients come on the heels of another high profile engagement for the Practice: The Off the Ice Foundation, which is in the process of being formed by two-time Olympian Allison Baver.

About the Charities

Baseballtown Charities ( ) is a nonprofit, Code Section 501(c)(3) organization formed to keep baseball alive in Reading. Fields, umpires, uniforms, and equipment cost money that some people simply do not have to spend on such things. Baseballtown Charities is dedicated to enabling Reading and Berks county children to continue to play baseball, regardless of the financial situation in their area.

IronPigs Charities ( ) is a nonprofit organization striving to provide educational and recreational opportunities for children in the Greater Lehigh Valley area. IronPigs Charities provides financial assistance to local charitable organizations helping underprivileged and disadvantaged youth and their families.

The HERSHEY BEARS Foundation was created to uphold and expand upon the HERSHEY BEARS’ tradition of giving. The Foundation, a Code Section 501(c)(3) organization, was established to make a difference in the lives of central Pennsylvanians by assisting community organizations. The Foundation donates time, resources, and financial support to area organizations.

The Off the Ice Foundation ( ), currently being formed by two-time Olympic champion Allison Baver, uses Olympic values and the sport of skating to instill character values, goal development and healthy lifestyles in all children.
