Scott E. Bettridge and Rogelio "Roy" J. Carrasquillo were featured in the Law360 article, “Fox Rothschild Adds Two EB-5 Attorneys from Akerman.” Full text can be found in the November 20, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is below.

Fox Rothschild LLP has announced the addition of Scott Bettridge and Roy Carrasquillo as partners who will focus on advising U.S. and foreign countries on corporate finance and infrastructure development, along with maximizing opportunities under the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program.

The firm already has an established national immigration practice in place that assists employers in recruiting professionals from foreign countries. The addition of Bettridge and Carrasquillo will complement the existing practice while helping to expand its reach by formalizing a practice group devoted to EB-5.

“EB-5 Immigrant Investor programs provide substantial value and opportunity to many of the firm’s international clients, and the addition of Roy and Scott significantly boosts our capabilities in this area,” Fox Rothschild managing partner Mark L. Silow said in a statement. “We are delighted to welcome Roy and Scott to Fox Rothschild, and are confident that our clients will greatly benefit from their vast experience handling not only EB-5 issues but also other complex corporate transactions in Latin America and Puerto Rico.”

Bettridge and Carrasquillo have been working together for two years due to the realization that their practices were complimentary. Although Bettridge works out of Fox’s Miami office and Carrasquillo in New York, the two said that they travel extensively, speak every day and believe it is an advantage to have a presence in both areas.

“We don't necessarily need to be in the same location to make it work,” Bettridge said. “I speak to Roy maybe more than my wife.”

According to Bettridge and Carrasquillo, the move to Fox Rothschild was motivated by the firm’s “nationwide commitment to the EB-5 practice area” and the ability to add value and depth to their practices by working with a multidisciplinary team.

“The platform is not just national in scope, but it's an established practice,” Carrasquillo added.
