Fox Rothschild Announces Management TransitionSeptember 6, 2016 – Press Releases
Fox Rothschild LLP has announced a transition in senior management. In April 2017, current Firmwide Managing Partner Mark L. Silow will become Chair of the Firm; current Co-Chairs, Abraham C. Reich and Phillip E. Griffin, will become Chairs Emeritus; and Mark L. Morris will assume the role of Firmwide Managing Partner. Silow, Reich and Griffin have each served for 12 years in their current roles.
Silow, Reich and Griffin will all remain active in Firm management and will remain on the Firm’s Executive Committee. As Firmwide Managing Partner, Morris will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Firm, while Silow, Reich and Griffin will continue to focus on more strategic issues, such as lateral recruitment, mergers and professional development.
“After 12 years of significant growth, it is time to expand the team of senior management,” said Silow. “As we transition into this next phase of Firm leadership, I am confident that Mark [Morris] has the entrepreneurial drive and vision to build upon the foundations we now have in place to continue the Firm’s strategic growth while ensuring that our clients receive the same level of service and commitment to which they are accustomed.”
Reich also added, “I have been privileged to be part of the leadership at the Firm for more than 30 years. Phil [Griffin] and I will continue our commitment to the growth of the Firm and look forward to working with Mark and Mark and the rest of our leadership team.”
Under Silow, Reich and Griffin’s leadership, Fox Rothschild has experienced unprecedented growth. In 2005, when Silow, Reich and Griffin assumed their roles, Fox was a regional law firm with fewer than 300 attorneys. During their tenure, the Firm implemented a strategic growth plan and today is a 750-attorney nationwide powerhouse of 22 offices across the country and is ranked among the Am Law 100. Evolving from a predominantly Northeast footprint, the Firm now also has offices in Florida, California, Illinois, Minnesota, Colorado and Texas.
“I recognize that I have enormous shoes to fill,” said Morris. “I want to thank Mark [Silow], Abe and Phil for all they have done to advance the Firm, and I want to thank the Executive Committee for having confidence in me to continue their legacy of unwavering commitment and dedication to Fox and its clients. I look forward to working with Mark, Abe and Phil in our respective new roles.”
Ranked by Chambers USA as a leading Real Estate lawyer in Pennsylvania, Morris is former chair of the Firm’s Real Estate Department, former Philadelphia office managing partner and has served on the Firm’s Executive Committee. He routinely handles a broad range of real estate matters, including acquisitions, development, joint ventures, leasing and finance. As co-chair of the Firm’s Hospitality Practice, he serves as lead attorney in transactions involving the sale, acquisition, development and management of full-service and limited-service hotels throughout the United States.
Active in the community, Morris serves as a Big Brother and is a former Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He founded the “Beyond School Walls” program at Fox Rothschild, which pairs 30 mentors from the Firm in rewarding relationships to help needy children from a local elementary school. Morris is also a member of the Philadelphia Real Estate Council, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
