Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Gregory B. Williams, a partner in the firm’s Wilmington office, has been elected Treasurer of the Delaware State Bar Association, effective July 1, 2010. He has served as a member of the executive committee of the Delaware State Bar Association for more than three years.
For more than 80 years the Delaware State Bar Association’s goal has been to organize and unite the lawyers who practice in the Delaware and serve as their professional association. The Association is regularly involved in matters pertaining to the profession, to the enforcement of laws and to assuring equal access to the justice system for every citizen. The Association is also committed to educating the public about the law and the proper administration of justice.
Williams, who serves as chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and is the former Managing Partner of the firm’s Wilmington office, has a diverse practice focused on commercial, intellectual property and other business litigation for a wide range of corporate clients, including technology companies, manufacturers, financial institutions, energy companies, health care companies, retailers, government entities, colleges and universities and faith-based organizations. He counsels and represents clients in litigation in federal and state courts in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey in matters that encompass patent infringement and trademark and trade dress infringement; antitrust and unfair competition issues; and eminent domain and other real estate related matters. Williams also contributes to the firm’s Delaware Intellectual Property Litigation blog , which explores the decisions issued by the U.S. District Court of Delaware in the areas of antitrust and intellectual property law.
A member of the Attorney Advisory Committee for the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, Williams also co-chairs its Technology Committee and serves as a member of the Local Rules Committee, which works with the court to revise the Local Rules. Williams is a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the State of Delaware, having been appointed by Governor Jack Markell. He also serves on the Hearing Committee for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and is a past President of the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia, Inc.
Williams’ various bar affiliation activities include, among others, serving a member of the Executive Committee of the Delaware State Bar Association, and serving as a delegate for Philadelphia for the Pennsylvania Bar Association's House of Delegates.
A highly respected attorney, Williams was recently awarded The Judge Layton Award for Service by the judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in recognition of his service to the court and its bar. Williams is a past recipient of the “40 Under 40 Award” by the Philadelphia Business Journal and the “30 Leaders Under 30” by Ebony Magazine.
Williams earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1995 and his B.A. and B.S. from Millersville University in 1990.
