Fox Rothschild Attorneys Take Champions of Diversity Challenge

April 1, 2013 – Press Releases

The attorneys of Fox Rothschild’s San Francisco office recently participated in the Champions of Diversity Challenge fundraiser for the Bay Area Urban Debate League (BAUDL).

The week-long campaign, held March 25 through 29, supports the BAUDL’s mission of helping urban high school students develop the skills they need to become articulate, informed leaders in their schools and communities.

“Debate is especially appealing to struggling students not reached by traditional education,” said partner Jeffrey D. Polsky, who spearheads the campaign. “We enjoy participating in this program because it works. In debate, students can raise intellectual challenges to their elders and display strong opinions. It creates an opportunity for their brilliance to shine.”

Fox Rothschild’s San Francisco office – comprised of 12 attorneys – raised $3,375 for the organization. Overall, the fundraiser raised more than $169,000 through the participating firms.

BAUDL currently serves 15 high schools in the Bay Area, primarily in Oakland and San Francisco. Nearly 100 percent of seniors who participate in the Bay Area program graduate from high school, and more than 86 percent of seniors who participate in BAUDL go on to college. The league helps to directly impact the racial and economic diversity of the legal profession by working with law firms and a distinguished community of support, including top school such as Harvard and Yale, to create powerful pipelines.
