Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Peter L. Blacklock has joined the firm as partner in the Real Estate and Intellectual Property Departments resident in the firm’s West Palm Beach office.

Kulunas, managing partner of the firm’s West Palm Beach office. “His knowledge of and experience in commercial and residential real estate in the South Florida market broadens the scope of legal services we can provide to clients in the area. Peter’s presence in West Palm Beach will also help expand the geographic reach of the firm’s real estate practice, which is currently centered in the mid-Atlantic region.”
Blacklock represents tenants, property owners and management companies in structuring, documenting and negotiating retail, office and industrial leases and related build-out, management and occupancy agreements. He also assists commercial developers and landlords in creating retail leasing strategies for regional and national "big box" lessees and regularly drafts and negotiates enforceability options on behalf of commercial lenders and borrowers.
For his commercial and high net-worth residential clients, Blacklock provides counsel in connection with the purchase and sale of real property investment portfolios, including financing, contract negotiation, title review and site due diligence. He also provides real-estate related assistance to state and national banking associations, credit unions and investment funds and regularly assists entrepreneurs and emerging companies with the capitalization, formation and restructuring of business entities.
As a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, Blacklock’s practice consists primarily of representing corporate clients in the development, protection and exploitation of various forms of intellectual property assets, with an emphasis on software licensing. Blacklock has extensive experience in the acquisition and disposition of patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and other intellectual property rights. He has drafted and negotiated a wide-array of contracts, including alliance, inbound and outbound distribution, open source, works-for-hire, warrant, branding, non-disclosure, service, marketing, joint-venture, outsourcing, and consortium agreements. Mr. Blacklock also regularly assists entrepreneurs and emerging companies with the capitalization, formation, and restructuring of business entities.
Blacklock formerly worked at International Business Machines (IBM), where he handled an array of contract agreements, assisted in acquisition activities and generally advised the company on strategies to streamline operations to ensure optimal efficiency. He also served as counsel for Nextel Communications, handling commercial property leases and licenses and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal communications regulations as well as providing legal counsel to the company's South Florida division on policy matters before the Federal Communications Commission.
Active in professional organizations, Blacklock is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties; Realtors Commercial Alliance; American Bar Association and its Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section; and Florida Bar Association and its Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section and Landlord-Tenant Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the IBM Southeast Federal Employees' Credit Union Supervisory Committee, a member of the Delray Beach and Boca Raton Chambers of Commerce and President of Habitat for Humanity in South Palm Beach County.
Admitted to practice in Florida, Blacklock earned his J.D. fromCase Western Reserve University Law School in 1998 and his B.S., with honors, from New England College in 1994.
