Darrell D. Miller, co-chair of the Entertainment and Sports Law practice at Fox Rothschild LLP in the firm’s Los Angeles office, is being honored by the Foundation for Second Chances (FFSC) with its 2011 Service in Entertainment Leadership Award.
Miller, noted as “one of the elite entertainment attorneys in the country“ by The Atlanta Post, is being recognized by the Foundation for his unwavering professional reputation as an entertainment attorney and Fox Rothschild partner as well as for his philanthropic involvement with art institutions, including the Pasadena Playhouse. He is slated to receive the award at the FFSC’s 2011 Leadership Awards silent auction and brunch, scheduled for Dec. 10 at Spectra by Wolfgang Puck at the Pacific Design Center.
The FFSC’s annual awards ceremony brings together a diverse group of 200 for an afternoon of brunch, cocktails, entertainment and education, while honoring leaders in business, community service, education and entertainment. The event is a tribute to community leaders, volunteers, mentors, educational leaders and business leaders who are part of the FFSC family and celebrates the impact the organization has had on the community.
Miller sits on the Board of Directors for the Pasadena Playhouse—the official state playhouse of California. Established in 1917, the playhouse has become known, in recent years, for launching new works and landmark revivals for the American Theatre.
With more than 20 years of experience in entertainment law, Miller has established himself as the go-to person for providing celebrities, athletes and others in the industry with guidance toward formulating solid and informed strategies for career growth. He is able to assist clients in monetizing and protecting their brands, building multiple revenue streams and leveraging new technology and social networking to expand their brands. Miller has been touted for his “Seven Streams of Income” wealth building strategy, which he formulated by examining the earning habits of the extremely wealthy. The Atlanta Post called the theory “a revolutionary concept that forever changed the thinking – and financial portfolios – of his clients and, ultimately, the general public.”
As a former singer and performer, Miller possesses a deep understanding of the creative talent he represents, as well as the knowledge and savvy of a seasoned entertainment attorney. Miller’s clients include diverse and visionary individuals and entities, reflecting his commitment to developing multimedia opportunities within the convergent climate of today's entertainment industry. His steadfast ability to provide superior personal service has resulted in long-standing relationships with studio executives and creative personnel, representation of actors, writers, directors and producers associated with a variety of television programs and motion pictures.
In addition to his work with the Pasadena Playhouse, Miller also recently served on the Cincinnati Children's Theatre Board of Directors and he is currently on the Air Force Entertainment Liaison Board. A jazz and classical music enthusiast, he is a frequent panelist and guest moderator of discussions relating to both the talent and institutional aspects of entertainment law.
Miller has been consistently named among the Top 50 Showbiz Players by Black Enterprise Magazine. He also was inducted into the Black Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association Hall of Fame in 2007.
Miller earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory Of Music.
