Fox Rothschild Receives Justice William J. Brennan Award by Philadelphia VIPMarch 2, 2010 – Press Releases
Fox Rothschild LLP is honored to announce it has been selected as the recipient of the Justice William J. Brennan Award from the Philadelphia VIP (Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program) for its high level of commitment to providing pro bono legal services.
The award is given to firms and individuals who accept the highest number of referrals as well as who provide outstanding services to the Philadelphia VIP and its clients each year. Fox Rothschild will receive the award on March 10 at the Philadelphia VIP’s Annual Awards Ceremony. Edward J. Hayes, a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office, will also be recognized at the ceremony for his exemplary commitment to pro bono and his outstanding service to VIP and it's clients with the VIP People's Choice Award.
“Fox Rothschild has a long history of giving back to the community by providing free legal services to those in need. We were, for example, one of the first major law firms in Philadelphia to establish a policy of mandatory pro bono service for our first-year and second-year associates,” said Jacqueline M. Carolan, chair of the firm's Pro Bono Committee. “We are honored to be recognized for our services with this award.”
Fox Rothschild’s broad-based pro bono program includes legal services at no cost for individuals who need assistance as well as services to various religious organizations, community groups, nonprofit associations, social welfare and human resources organizations.
The Philadelphia VIP is an organization that promotes equal justice for the poor by providing civil legal services, collaborating with other legal services organizations and promoting a culture of volunteerism among attorneys through education and exposure to the issue of poverty.
