Fox Rothschild’s Pittsburgh Office Welcomes Prominent Real Estate Partner Michael Syme

Bolstering the firm’s Pittsburgh office, Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Michael H. Syme has joined the firm as a partner in the Real Estate Department.

Syme has worked extensively with Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Choice Neighborhoods, HOPE VI, Capital Fund Financing and RAD and has represented housing authorities across the country in the finance and development of affordable housing. He also frequently counsels housing authorities in the creation of affiliated entities.

Additionally, Syme also has broad experience working with government agencies and housing programs. He served on the HOPE VI Work Group, which was created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to advise on the development of Cost Control and Safe Harbor Standards for Rental Mixed-Finance Development. He also advised HUD on its Notice of Affiliates and Instrumentalities. Syme represented HUD in the Capital Fund Fiduciary Program and has represented several housing authorities in audits conducted by HUD's Office of the Inspector General.

Syme serves as co-chair of the American Bar Association's Pennsylvania Forum on Affordable Housing and regularly speaks at HUD-sponsored seminars on affordable housing concerns.

Syme earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.S., cum laude, from Pennsylvania State University.

Prior to joining Fox, Syme was chair of the Affordable Housing Group at Cohen & Grigsby, P.C.
