July 20, 2017 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Maureen L. Mitchell, a highly regarded and experienced environmental attorney, has joined the firm as a partner in its Seattle office.

“As Fox’s newest office, our goal is to add top talent to our bench. Maureen is a distinguished attorney with far-reaching experience in environmental litigation, and we are honored that she is joining our team,” said Joe Shickich, Fox’s Seattle office managing partner. “Her remarkably comprehensive background will benefit our clients nationwide and broaden our services in the Pacific Northwest.”

Mitchell’s practice focuses on environmental and Indian Law, including regulatory compliance and litigation. She represents clients in the cleanup and redevelopment of Superfund sites, matters of Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act compliance and litigation and litigation involving claims of environmental contamination under CERCLA and RCRA.  Her litigation practice has also included commercial disputes, insurance, land use and real estate matters.

Mitchell has extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, the Model Toxics Control Act and SEPA/NEPA as well as climate change/carbon markets and water rights.

Fox opened its first Pacific Northwest office in May 2017 through a merger with Seattle-based Riddell Williams. The merger significantly expanded Fox’s bench in several key national practice areas: corporate, employment, environmental, financial services and creditors’ rights, litigation and real estate.

Mitchell earned her J.D. from University of Washington School of Law and her B.A. from Smith College.

Prior to joining Fox, Mitchell was a shareholder at Summit Law Group PLLC and a law clerk to the Honorable H. Joseph Coleman (ret.) of the Washington State Court of Appeals.
