Gregory B. Williams of Fox Rothschild Appointed Chair of the U.S. Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel

Gregory B. Williams, partner in the Wilmington office of Fox Rothschild LLP, has been selected by the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware to serve as Chair of the U.S. Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel.

The Panel is comprised of 11 members and its purpose is to investigate and interview applicants for the vacant U.S. Magistrate Judge position created after the Honorable Leonard P. Stark was elevated from U.S. Magistrate Judge to District Judge. The Panel will prepare a report with its recommendations and submit the report to the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware for consideration and selection.

Co-Chair of Fox Rothschild’s Diversity Committee, Williams focuses his practice on commercial, intellectual property and other business litigation for a wide range of clients, including technology companies, manufacturers, financial institutions, energy companies, health care companies, retailers, government entities, colleges and universities and faith-based organizations. He is the former managing partner of the firm’s Wilmington office.

Williams is active in the Delaware legal community and currently serves as a member of the Attorney Advisory Committee for the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, co-chair of its Technology Committee, and as a member of the Local Rules Committee, which works with the Court to revise the Local Rules of Civil Procedure. Williams is also a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the State of Delaware, having been appointed by Governor Jack Markell. Williams is also Treasurer of the Delaware State Bar Association and has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Association for more than three years. Williams is also a past President of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, Inc.

Williams was recently awarded The Judge Layton Award for Service by the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in recognition of service to the court and its bar. Williams earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1995 and his B.A. and B.S. from Millersville University in 1990.
