The financial situation of the city of Harrisburg, Pa, remains tenuous, despite the city’s ability to make payroll for its 577 employees this week. Recently, Harrisburg has applied for inclusion in Act 47, the state’s fiscal oversight program for distressed municipalities, but banks remain leery of lending short-term funds to the city.

In the interim, the City Council continues its effort to hire an attorney to advise on possible bankruptcy filing and the state oversight program. The Council submitted a request for proposal last week, and Fox Rothschild was one of five firms who have been granted an interview.
