Judy McIntire Springer of Fox Rothschild LLP Receives 2009 Volunteer Award from Philadelphia Coalition for Victim AdvocacyMay 20, 2009
Judy McIntire Springer, partner at Fox Rothschild LLP, recently received the 2009 Volunteer Award from the Philadelphia Coalition for Victim Advocacy (PCVA) at the Annual National Crime Victims' Rights Week Awards Luncheon. The luncheon was held on May 1, 2009, at the Wanamaker Building in Philadelphia.
Springer received the award as a result of her child advocacy work on behalf of two child victims of criminal sexual abuse by family members. Springer advocated for both children, aiding with the Victim Impact Statement and appearing in court on multiple occasions. She was nominated by both the Assistant District Attorney who worked on the case, as well as the children’s social worker from the Support Center for Child Advocates. Additional award recipients at the luncheon included Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham and Senator Arlen Specter.
Springer, who is resident in the firm’s Philadelphia office, focuses her practice on family law and domestic relations, including adoptions, annulments, prenuptial agreements, sophisticated and complex divorce and support cases, contentious custody litigation and relocation. She also works on matters involving protecting grandparents’ rights, including custody issues involving grandchildren and complex Protection from Abuse cases.
Active in the firm’s pro bono activities, Springer has served the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program (VIP), the Senior Law Center, the Legal Clinic for the Disabled and the Support Center for Child Advocates. She has mentored junior associates on child custody cases for VIP and coached a team in the Temple/LEAP High School Mock Trial Competition.
In 2008, Springer was named a "Lawyer on the Fast Track" by The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly. As such, she is one of only 35 Pennsylvania attorneys under the age of 40 to be selected as a future leader of the Commonwealth's legal community and for having made a significant commitment to the community-at-large.
