Julia Swain of Fox Rothschild Present Philly VIP’s Family Law Training

Julia Swain, an attorney in the Family Law Practice of Fox Rothschild LLP, recently presented a custody training program to attorneys interested in handling cases for Philadelphia VIP, a pro bono legal services organization.

The presentation focused on substantive custody issues, the consideration of criminal convictions, relocation and other custody factors addressed in the courts. They also covered custody complaints, petitions for special relief, such as mental health assessments, home inspections, custody evaluation, as well as expedited and emergency relief.

As a member of Philadelphia VIP’s Family Law Advisory Council, Swain helps the organization to recruit and train volunteer attorneys interested in assisting with family law cases.

In her practice, Swain represents clients in all aspects of family law including divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution and abuse. She litigates family law cases in the five-county Philadelphia area, including appellate courts and negotiates settlements and prenuptial agreements.

Swain is the 2013 Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Bench-Bar Committee, the 2011 Chair of the Family Law Section and Associate Editor of the Philadelphia Bar Reporter. Swain was the 2009 and 2010 recipient of the Pro Bono Roll of Honor award from the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, recognizing her pro bono work as exemplary. In 2009, she was the recipient of the White Hat Award from the Legal Clinic for the Disabled for her outstanding volunteer work.
