A group of ethics attorneys told a Senate committee that Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s suspended law license raises questions about her ability to perform her job.

Fox Rothschild’s Beth Weisser, who represents attorneys in disciplinary proceedings, said that some of the responsibilities given to her by state law are the same actions that are not permitted by an attorney who is unable to practice law due to a suspended license.

“I don’t think you can marry those things up,” she said. “Some of the — if not all of the — obligations under the Commonwealth Attorneys Act fall squarely within the activities that a formerly admitted attorney is not permitted to do.”
