After being signed to Island Def Jam Records for more than two years, L.A. rapper and YouTube sensation Wax wanted out of his contract.

Wax, originally signed to the company by L.A. Reid, was unhappy with the direction his career was going, especially after Reid left the record label for Epic Records, and later, The X Factor.

Because of the "smart negotiating" of Darrell Miller -- Miller had inserted provisions should Reid leave the label and also secured the second album option -- Wax was able to part ways with his benefactors and take his music with him.
