Marcel Groen To Receive Democratic Lifetime Achievement AwardOctober 14, 2016 – Press Releases
Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Marcel L. Groen, a partner with the firm and Pennsylvania Democratic Chairman, will receive the Montgomery County Democratic Party’s Lifetime Achievement award.
Groen led the Montgomery County Democratic Committee for 21 years and helped build it into one of the state's most effective political organizations. During his tenure and under his leadership, the region changed from being one of the most important Republican counties in the state to one of the most important Democratic counties. When Groen took the reins, the party held only one elected position throughout Montgomery County. By 2015, after essentially doubling Democratic voter registration in the region, the Democratic party held every possible elected position.
Elected as state chairman in September 2015, Groen has been active in Democratic politics for 40 years, including 23 as a member of the Democratic State Committee and 16 as a member of the Democratic National Committee. In 2013, PoliticsPA named him the best county chair of either party in the entire state. Groen has served as delegate or super-delegate to every Democratic National Convention since 1992 and was host state chairman for this summer's convention in Philadelphia.
In his practice at Fox, Groen counsels clients on governmental relations, public-private partnerships, real estate, business and corporate matters, family law and municipal and administrative law.
Groen will be honored at the Montgomery County Democratic Committee Annual Dinner on Oct. 30.
Groen earned his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1970 and his B.A. from Temple University in 1967.
