February 22, 2011 – Press Releases

Marcel L. Groen, partner in the Blue Bell office of Fox Rothschild LLP, was recently named as one of Pennsylvania’s best county chairs by PoliticsPA.

PoliticsPA recognized Groen for his dedication to serving Pennsylvania politics as the Montgomery County Chair since 1994 and for his active role as a fundraiser, activist leader, candidate recruiter, strong manager, local politico and a statewide power. Groen has spent two decades transforming the former GOP Montgomery County into a solid blue county. According to PoliticsPA, his political influence – statewide and even nationally – and his solid fundraising skills have earned Groen tight control over one of the largest Democratic operations in the Commonwealth.

Active in politics in Bucks and Montgomery counties for more than 30 years, Groen is a member of the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee and is one of eight Pennsylvanians elected to the Democratic National Committee.

Groen has a diverse legal practice counseling clients on governmental relations, public-private partnerships, real estate, business and corporate matters, family law and municipal and administrative law. He serves as Pennsylvania general counsel to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission and has represented the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission on labor and condemnation issues; has counseled numerous municipal agencies and governmental bodies, including the Borough of Norristown, the North Wales Water Authority, the City of Allentown, Bristol Township and the City of Easton in bond-related issues; and represented the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on matters relating to insurance insolvency.

An active member in his community, Groen serves on the Montgomery County Community College Board of Trustees and is a member of the Bucks County, Montgomery County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He has held leadership and executive roles with the Beth Sholom Synagogue in Elkins Park, Pa., the Bucks County Jewish National Fund, ORT and with the American Israel Chamber of Commerce.

Groen earned his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1970 and his B.A. from Temple University in 1967.
