Marcel L. Groen of Fox Rothschild Named One of PA’s 100 Most Influential by the Pennsylvania ReportFebruary 11, 2008
Bucks County, PA – Marcel L. Groen, a partner with Fox Rothschild LLP, has been named as one of the Pennsylvania Report’s “Report 100” for 2008. The Report 100 is a list of people most likely to have an impact on government and politics in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2008.
“This is truly an honor for me,” said Groen, a partner in the firm’s Warrington, Pennsylvania office. “This is an incredibly impressive group, and to be named among them is a great privilege.”
Groen’s company on the list includes Governor Edward Rendell, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, and U.S. Senator Arlen Specter, among others.
Groen has a diverse practice counseling clients in a variety of areas, including governmental relations, real estate, business and corporate matters, family law, and municipal and administrative law. His representation also includes labor and condemnation related issues on behalf of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission; bond issues for the City of Allentown, the City of Easton, the North Wales Water Authority, and the Borough of Norristown; and insurance insolvency matters for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Active in the legal community, Groen has served on the Appellate Court Procedural Rules Committee of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court since his appointment in 2004. That same year, he was elected to serve as a member of the Democratic National Committee. Groen has been active in politics in Bucks and Montgomery counties for 30 years, having served as chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee since 1994, and finance chair of the Bucks County Democratic Party. He has also served as a member of the Pennsylvania Democratic State committee since 1994, and is a delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
He is also active in the community, serving as a member of the Bucks County Teen Pregnancy Task Force; former chair of the Bucks County International Trade Council; and as former solicitor for Falls Township, Bristol Township, Lower Southampton Townships, the Bucks County Water & Sewer Authority, and the Bristol Township School District. He has also held leadership positions with Beth Sholom Synagogue in Elkins Park, PA, Philadelphia ORT, Bucks County Jewish National Fund, and Solomon Schechter Day Schools.
