Marilou E. Watson, Intellectual Property Attorney, Joins Fox Rothschild’s Montgomery County OfficeFebruary 11, 2008
Montgomery County, PA – Fox Rothschild LLP has announced that Marilou E. Watson has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice as a partner, resident in the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania office.
“Marilou offers a great deal of practical knowledge in the intellectual property arena,” said Gerard P. Norton, chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group and co-chair of the Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Group. “We’re fortunate to have her join Fox.”
Watson focuses her practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on foreign and domestic patent prosecution; client counseling; infringement analysis; patent invalidity and freedom to operate studies and Hatch-Waxman issues related to ANDA filings; and licensing, due diligence, and divestiture matters in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts.
Watson joins Fox from Synnestvedt and Lechner, LLP, where she was chair of the Pharmaceutical Practice Group. Before that, she was Assistant Intellectual Property Counsel at Elan Drug Delivery, Inc.
Watson has been a registered pharmacist since 1991 with a focus on advanced pharmaceutical technology. She has a wide variety of technical experience within the pharmaceutical industry which includes bio-pharmaceutical research and development involving pharmacokinetic drug preformulation of proprietary compounds. Her pharmaceutical technical support experience involved technical analysis of numerous pharmaceutical products, devising project protocols and lab scale formulations of various drug products and excipients including product validation, sterility and stability studies.
Active in the legal community, Watson has been a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association; the American Intellectual Property Law Association, of which she was chair of the Diversity Committee from 2002-2003. She is also a current member of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association, and chaired its Diversity Committee from 2005-2006. In addition, she is a past president and current Advisory Board member for the Villanova Law School Minority Alumni Society.
Watson graduated from Villanova University School of Law (J.D. 1994), and received a B.S. in pharmacy from Temple University School of Pharmacy in 1991. She graduated from Temple University School of Arts and Sciences in 1987 with a B.A. in biology. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
