July 17, 2015 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Marilou E. Watson has been selected to receive the 2015 Multicultural Leadership Award by the National Diversity Council.

This annual award honors people of color who have made a difference through their achievements and exemplify the ability to excel in their field.

A partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department and co-chair of Fox’s Life Sciences Practice, Watson previously served as co-chair of the firm's Diversity Committee, where she assisted in spearheading initiatives that promoted firmwide diversity and inclusiveness. She was also recently appointed to a one-year term as chair of the Montgomery Bar Association’s (MBA) Diversity Committee and was selected as a 2015 Diverse Attorney of the Year by The Legal Intelligencer.

As a longstanding member of the MBA Diversity Committee, Watson pioneered its “Day in Court” program at the Montgomery County Courthouse, which received a 2013 County Bar Recognition Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association for its impact on the future of the legal profession. The program provides Montgomery County high school students the opportunity to observe a live court proceeding and meet with several county judges, the Public Defender, County Detectives and County Commissioners.

Watson, a registered pharmacist since 1991, focuses her legal practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on foreign and domestic patent prosecution, client counseling, infringement analysis, patent invalidity, licensing, and due diligence and divestiture matters in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts.

Watson received her J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law and her B.A. in Biology and B.S. in Pharmacy degrees from Temple University.
